UPLOAD, DOWNLOAD

Summary: utilities to upload & download binary files via serial (e.g. RS-232) ports with full handshaking.

Description: sending files to plotters, serial printers, EPROM programmers, and other binary serial devices from the PC should be a piece of cake. It isn't, as you may have discovered. UPLOAD is a simple utility which makes it easy and reliable, whether your device needs hardware handshaking, software (XON/XOFF) handshaking, or both. We use it all the time, as do many of our clients. DOWNLOAD is the corresponding reception utility, providing a very simple means of transferring data serially from PC to PC.

Type: DOS application; can be run from the command line, in batch processes, or in a Windows 9x DOS box.

LINEPROC

Summary: text file hard-tab and column processor.

Description: you've generated a report, nicely formatted in columns, and you want to import it into a spreadsheet. However the spreadsheet program needs the columns to be delimited by hard tabs; while you could do this by hand, it's a nuisance. Or, you're importing a manually formatted document into a modern word processor which, again, understands columns only if you're using hard tabs. Or, you have a text file full of hard tabs and want to turn them, intelligently, into spaces. LINEPROC processes text files to generate, or remove, hard tabs; tab stop positions can be specified as required, either at regular intervals or individually.
